meh ... I script to avoid stacking penalties, never change them on the fly.
though TBH I fly a Domi when using drones so omni matters less
Isn't 30 seconds also the reload time on RHML ? maybe the new server tick is 30 seconds |

You really don't think things through do you CCP?
You are likely to get two passive modules ... one like the range scripted omni and one like the tracking scripted omni. Not a happy situation.
In reality for the majority of PvE people that tend to fly a Ishtar or Dominix with 3 or sometimes 4 omnis, the work-around is stagger your omnis so they cycle at different times. That way when you want to charge from three range omnis to three tracking omnis you can change one every ten seconds.
Still sux for people with just the one omni though. |

So let's hear about how we can fix "the real problem".
The simplest solution would be to have additional attacks on the same target have some form of stacking, probably by having each attack add a small level of "resistance" to that attacks type of effect for a very short time (1 server tick?). Of course this would not help with server load as it introduces load of its own.

Presumably because they need to update the attributes of 5 objects in space every cycle instead of 1

This is presumably about fleet battles and blobs, not people shooting rats.
Probably came up as an issue during Burn Jita. |

Of course the SENSIBLE solution would be allow the grouping of omnis:
a) making it easier for the players
b) with clever coding letting the server treat them as a single unit |

With 5 drones in space, that one module causes 5 server interactions every 10 seconds. Now it causes 5 every 30 seconds instead. They have just cut 2/3 of the server load of that one module. And typically people used two of them. Looks like they are finally getting down to giving the axe to mechanics that unduly contribute to server lag. Good for them.
Except .....
Going back a month or two omnis did not cycle at all so they are fixing a problem they created all by themselves.
Anyway, a simpler solution would be to allow players to group the omnis. |

TBH ... my mission alt rarely changes scripts on my L4 Domi and there have been occasions (because optimal unbonused bouncer range for my Domi is pretty much MJD distance anyway) I have not turned them on and did not notice for a while.
This change will not effect the hull bonused ships like the Ishtar and Domi that much.
I expect it will be rather annoying for people flying Vexors and Prophecies.
